See us as a very easy walkover. http://oneboro.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?tid=2506&page=8 RE: Boro V Barnsley (A) "It shows our descent over the last 5 years that we are talking about Barnsley as a team who we are not 100% certain of beating. Our expectations are sooooo much lower. Realistic though but a lot lower. It still pains me to think we debate the players of Barnsley and similar teams as being equal. Still saying that.. IMHO, even as we are as a team/club now, I think we should be beating the vast majority of these teams and be there or there abouts against the others like West Ham, Birmingham, Blackpool, Cardiff, Leicester, Forest and maybe even Ipswich. We are clearly going to be beat on an off day and have games where we have bad luck etc... but still. Tonight it must be a win, even away from home this must be a banker. Hoping for 2-3 goals scored and maybe 1 conceeded. Don't care who scores either... "
Reading this board "The Prince" in Wombwell would be thinking the same if they were playing us this Sunday.
I really fancy us tonight Historically, here's the head to head at Oakwell Barnsley Wins---Draws---Boro Wins --------10-----------6----------7------- Barnsley goals------------Boro Goals --------30----------------------35----- Meeting Since: A Barnsley Win---A Draw---A Boro Win -------0---------------3-----------4------- Recent History, last 5 meetings at Oakwell: 2010: Barnsley 2-0 Boro 2009: Barnsley 2-1 Boro 1995: Barnsley 1-1 Boro 1993: Barnsley 1-4 Boro 1991: Barnsley 2-1 Boro Last 10 home games on a tuesday night (Barnsley): Win-----Draw-----Loss-----For-----Against -6---------1---------3-------23---------15-- Our defeats came against QPR, Leicester and Cardiff Last 10 away games on a tuesday night (Boro): Win-----Draw-----Loss-----For-----Against -4---------2---------4--------19--------17-- However these victories came against Wednesday, Preston, Scunthorpe and Doncaster, the latter being the only team not to have since been relegated. Everything I posted above took me about 45 minutes to research and it all means **** ALL, but we're gunna win tonight regardless, I can feel it in mi waters ----------------------------------------------------------!YOU REDS!----------------------------------------------------------
Don't know where that arrogance comes from, but it's to be hoped they are as bad as last season, and I don't think they've improved their team very much over the summer, so with a bit of luck we mite get at least 1 goal and 3 points!
Re: I really fancy us tonight i appreciate the ffort you've gone through and based on this it looks like an easy victory for us BUT i did a little search myself and middlesbrough have been beaten only once in their last 16 games (15 league games) SO taking that into account and looking back on our last 3 performances and failure to get one goal i can't see us getting more than a point call me negative if you like but i'm being realistic i sinceely hope i'm wrong- come on Barnsley!
