Is where our present troubles began. Robins was learning his trade. He is safe with Huddersfield, and Shackell will be a Premiership player next season. Was that down to Cryne, or are the dabs of Barry Taylor and Don Rowing on that one as well? Whichever it is, that is where the blame for our current demise lays. It grieves me that our downfall is not so much due to all this "punching above our weight" cr4p, but is actually self-inflicted. Let's hope for more realistic input/investment into the club in the near future.
Don't let anyone hear you say that. We played **** football under robins, remember?! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Pretty much said that same thing in another thread just now. They came in and changed the atmosphere of the place. It became about punching above our weight, instead of becoming solid and even, dare I say it, steadily growing. I appreciate what Flitcroft did at the end of last season. But I don't appreciate anything else he or his mate did.
You've stolen my thunder a bit here......which I was going to post on here if/when we are relegated.....the (probable?) relegation this season started with a piece in the Barnsley Chronicle by Don Rowing just after Mark robins had been sacked. in that piece Don describes how the club should move forward by bringing in players from the lower leagues and developing them and not, like robins was doing, the total reliance on loan players. So instead of the mixture of loan experienced Championship players and also players from the lower leagues........we employed HilFlicka who were instructed to bring lower league players in (shopping at Aldi) which they did. Which was no fault of theirs. I've nothing bad to say about Pat or Don............but it was decisions made back then that has caused this dilemma right now.
under robins was the only time we finished a season without shittin ourselves, and the powers that be allowed it to fall apart,,it must have cost them more in sackings than what robbins would have wanted to spend on players.
Whilst I agree to a certain extent didn't we have less than 10 players contracted for the following season when Robins left? We were losing money every season relying on loan signings to get by
