It seems that we get one area of the team sorted and straight away there is another problem in another area of the team.

We have just sorted the attack out - although some of us knew that the 4 we started with this season wern't up to it.
Then it was the central defence - Kay.
Then the left back - Hecky.
And now Colgans brain seems to have gone to mush.

I think if all the players played as we know they can, then we shouldn't have a problem.
But whats happening - they seem to be putting the effort in - has the belief gone ??? (dunno) (dunno) (dunno)

why was it colgans fault yesterday?

the defence were awful. Both full backs were constantly out of position and left their wingers stood in acres of space to recieve the ball (that isnt good sunderland play, they didnt make a good run, its just bad defending).

The wingers offered no support at all to the defence, devaney should have been took off at half time for his contribution (if you can call it that).

And then the defence makes a balls up, allows their strikers to have a free shot on the edge of the area and when it goes in its the keepers fault? Is that the way it works then?

Defender makes bad decision in allowing player to run at him, defender completly fails to tackl, defender allows striker to have free shot on goal, keeper makes the right decision, dives but unfortunatly doesnt stop the ball and obviously that makes it the keepers fault for the goal?

I'd prefer to blame it on the defence who made a conscious decision not to tackle rather than on the keeper who at least tried to dive.

RE: why was it colgans fault yesterday?

It wasn't Colgan's fault because the defender allowed the shot but he at least dived for it?

It's not his job to dive for it, it's his job to STOP it.

You can't have it both ways - if the defender is at fault for allowing the shot, the goalkeeper is equally at fault for not stopping it.

Just seen the goals

Yesterday I thought the 1st went through his hands, but can't blame him for the 2nd - he was completely unsighted on that by the 2 defenders in front of him
