the lovely ppl i met at half-time whilst having a ciggie..

there was a married couple about my dads age (late 40's)..
there was an 81 year old fella who had been going since 1952 he said, and he was as sharp-minded a supporter as any ive ever met.. and had a great sense of humor too.. some of the stuff he came out with was classic..
and finally there was an old girl who didnt say her age, but her 1st words to me as she came over were, "50 odd years ive been coming ere.. and the last 2 games, and nar this 1, well, i cant remember worse."
and the old fella said, "aye, but it dint cost us a bleeding fortune back then to watch rubbish." lol
they were such warm and lovely ppl, it really made me smile, despite the 45 mins we had just endured.. we were laughing about things, and discussing in a jovial manner what we thought was wrong.. but silly us we expected a reaction 2nd half.. but then we have been waiting for the team to turn up properly for 3 games now..

but what the chatting made me realise was just how varied our fanbase can be.. ur talking me, at 29.. a couple late 40's.. and an elderly man and woman.. thats 3 generations.
yet we all pretty much agreed on everything.
we felt that playing so many players out of position was bizarre.. we didnt see the point in playing 2 holding midfielders, at home.. especially when they werent actually succeeding in their task to nullify the Boro midfield.. and conversely they offered nothing going forward..
we found it strange that Davies had been dropped, considering he was 1 of our better players against Soton.. we also found it strange to have Haynes up top on his own, basically trying to do (and failing) the same job that Davies did on setdi..
the old guy took the words out of my mouth when he said Addison was a center-half in midfield, and it showed.. we also agreed that all the Boro team, just like Soton, were a hell of a lot quicker, sharper, and more up for it than our lads..

so if we, 3 generations of reds, agree on the above, then are we all wrong? is it purely Keith Hill thats right, and he is in fact correct to say he was proud of them? or is he wrong, and just using the 'negative crowd' excuse to suit his own end?
there are so many issues.. and his attack on the good ppl like us, who are trying our damnedest, is nothing short of ignorant.. to then defend the display, and the squad takes some amount of idiocy.. he even praises our counter-attacking game-plan!? COUNTER-attacking.. yet he wonders why ppl jeer.. he promised quick attacking football.. he even referred to us fans in pre-season as being tired of the negative football served up last season, and now he's got us MORE negative, a lot more.. and playing aimless, hopeful long-balls towards Haynes, with no other players around him! jeez.. am going back to work.. its shred my head tonite..
