Its a tricky situation to try and solve, but for the few hes brought in that have failed if Davey can keep getting these gems from abroad i back him.

You have to move alot of muck to find diamonds.

Simple; get promotion. But a club of our size it's just not gonna happen, thats why i think Simon is always going abroad for players. Sometimes works- Colace, Muller and Leon. Mainly doesn't though- Christenson, Mossto etc.

We're an unfashionable club and always will be, unfortunately

That can only be solved with huge investment, or promotion to the Premiership. Unfortunately, the two link together these days.

i wouldnt say that Mostto and Christensen were failures

Mostto never given longer than 2 games to get in any kind of run and Kim scored 1 and then fell out with Davey and we never saw him again, Odejayi on the other hand i would say is a good example

You say 'mainly doesn't work' I just cannot agree with that. Muller, Colace, Ferenczi, Souza, Van Homoet, Werling, Leon have been successes whilst Mostto, Christiensen, Rajczi and thus far El Haimour have not. I'd say MOST have been good, of course this is subjective but I believe that Davey has done bloody well in the foreign market to date

    eh?

Werling was screwed by his agent

Ward would have signed if we offered enough

    Parker? dunno

Phillips family were settled in the midlands and brum probaby offered him more money than us in any case.

Constantine had a point at the time but probably looks back on it as the biggest mistake he ever made, thankfully.

Push it to the South coast.

It'll always be easier to attract Northern-born players to Barnsley, or apparently, foreign players who've never heard of it.

    And those are all facts?

The only fact is that none of the above are Barnsley players.

90% of players move for the money, there are a few that don't want to move from the south or show a bit of loyalty to a club
but most will move anywhere if the money is there.

barnsley have always been an unfashionable club due to our and media sterotyping about the area and its percieved outside of Barnsley that the town is still in the 1890's whippet racing coal mining drunken wife beaters so to attract outside talent we have as a club always offered more than a going rate wages wise to attract a player of note

    a quick search reveals

BARNSLEY manager Simon Davey has revealed the Club's bid for Blackpool striker Keigan Parker is dead in the water.

Simon told www.barnsleyfc.co.uk: "In any negotiation process there is always a difference in opinion. It's safe to say that Keigan's opinion and the Club's opinion differ.

"We made him an offer which we believed was appropriate for an unproven Championship striker. He has turned this offer down and that is now the end of the matter".

Speaking to the Sheffield Star, Assistant Manager Ryan Kidd commented: "We've made him a reasonable offer. If he wants to play Championship football at a good, progressive club, he knows where to come".
