1.Appoint a coach who genuinely has good EFL credentials
    2. Don't sell players for short term gain - its a false economy.
    3. Let the new coach do what he wants with the squad and tactics/formation for the first team.
    4. Invest money to strengthen the team for the long-term rather than plugging gaps because the recruitment/selling has failed in the short term.
    5. Listen to people and be prepared to show some flexibility (like has partially happened with really young players being solely recruited).

    1. To some degree they did that with Collins as a former EFL player with some coaching success. They definitely did it with Duff. Let’s see if they do it again.

    2. They haven’t been selling players, only kitching for daft money. They extended Connell, Phillips and Jalo. Andersen stayed longer than he needed to and we extended Styles (mistake in hindsight).

    3. The coach is in charge. Implementing a style at the club and recruiting to fit that style actually helps us long term. If the manager goes we don’t need to start again. If a manager was allowed to sign his own players we’d be stuck with all Collins signings now which could actually set us back further. It worked when Struber (a pressing coach) took over from stendel (another pressing coach) and same for Val after that. Continuity in style does benefit us long term. (If done right).

    4. The board have invested a lot of money. Unfortunately at the moment there are more pressing bills that need paying to keep us in business. If you want to support a team spending daft money on players go watch Wrexham or Man City.

    5. They do welcome feedback. They set up the Fan group who meets with the CEO. They take feedback from the Supporters Trust. And attend countless fan engagement meetings. You and the board may have differing opinions on how the club should be ran but it doesn’t mean they don’t listen.

ps I’m not pro board. Just trying to offer a different narrative to the repetitive view point I see across this site.

Biggest crossroads at the club now. All the goodwill gone - clubs got to pull some rabbits out the hat was probably got the most challenging league one division this season. Be stuck here for years if we tread water once again.

I'm not overly disagreeing but I don't think you've read what I've put at face value. I'm nowhere suggesting for example that they overspend. I'm not suggesting that the coach has no control.. There are other things I could comment on. I am trying to suggest, basically, that the board should be more concerned with the build rather than the dismantle. At some point they need to accept that the short-termism has got to stop. They need to give more remit to the coach and by listening I think its incumbent on them to maybe say 'yes, we're doing things wrong'. As I said I dont really think you took my.post in the spirit in which it was intended. If you would like me to be more specific about my views I could re-phrase and explain more carefully and clearly.

The board never get accused of short-termism. The accusations are always we buy young to sell and never buy experience

Unfortunately the club was brokered by Conway to rich fuddy duddies with the promise of a return on their investment. It's only chance that we discovered JAQ was involved. What's saying there aren't more rich fuddy duddies wanting their cut?

That's how PMG work. Like it or not the club is still involved with Conway, Lee and anonymous investees of their portfolio.

As much as the current board would have us think differently.

Feel bad posting that because I'm quite upbeat about the club this last two seasons.

Unless of course you mean manager-wise. Which is understandable. Perhaps getting rid of release clauses would help keep them longer, if we wanted, but that may also mean we don't get the ones we really want. It's a **** predicament to be in but I'm not really sure of what we could do about it

I appreciate your comments. We dont all agree on things do we? I meant that as I see it there has been far too much 'sell and make a bit of money' attitude rather than 'try not to sell and try and build'. I think the current board is better actually but they need to stop the rot and start the rebuild. Even if it costs them more money (as it already is doing) if they're here for the long-term (which again they've said they are) they need to look at buying and selling, recuitment, managerial independence to a degree and willingness to wait for success and build the team rather than dismantling at every opportunity to mitigate shortfalls. They are losing money because of poor short-term decisions in my opinion. I think the last board were a lot worse mind and I think the current board have their hearts in the right place but I suppose all I'm saying really is they need to have a good hard look at how they run things.
I will now shut up. Ive made a few points and ive had enough....

Yeah and fans are starting to settle for second best too. Excellent post. Won't be long before League 1 midtable is the new normal judging on a post I read earlier on another thread.

No im pretty sure that midtable or worse is what loads of fans were already predicting last summer. And the summer before that.

relating to season one on the post you were quoting. That was an anomaly. Anyone arguing different is deluded.
