We don't know the detail. We don't ever get told the detail. But how I understand it - it's this: Blackpool want £750k. Barnsley have offered £500k. The difference has put the transfer on hold. In the scheme of things - current cost of players etc. - should we just go out and get him - and is this one of the behind the scenes issues that Hecky was talking about. That is to say - the club is squabbling over relatively insignificant amounts while at the same Hecky is struggling to put a team together???
I agree that's it's not a lot of money, but if he's really worth the asking price why hasn't anyone else bought him?
The same happened a few years ago when we lost Charlie Adam from them by niggling over pennies in the grand scheme of things, and look how his career progressed!
I think another natural wide player wouldn't go amiss as could then get Stevie Kaplan involved centrally where we may get the best out of him
Isn't he the same kind of player as about 5 we already signed We should be signing the young winger they have
Did he - I didn't see that reported. And it wouldn't surprise me if he's one of the 4 currently been spoken to. But - anyway, if not Potts, then in general yer know what I mean
Googled it, and it brought up a link to the star, which will no longer open, but interestingly what it does intimate is that Davey was told not to pursue his his interest in Adam.
IIRC we didn't pursue him as we thought we'd only be looking at him moving on in 12-18 months so didn't want to spend £500k on him for that reason
To be fair, not every player works at every club, so we don't know if it would've gone down the same route as it did for him at Blackpool.
Wasn't it a straight choice between Adam and Hammill, the funds were available for 1. Davey went for the best of both and signed Adam Hammill.
