A guy at work who was a fan of the Stone Roses saw them and said they are better live than the real thing.
He said the the Stone Roses were rubbish live.

RE: If they are so talented why?

If they are so talented why dont they write and play there own music instead of being a copy band.

    Tribute bands suck!

Perhaps they aren't talented enough to write music/lyrics but are just proficient at playing.

Though I've often thought the same as you - I also think that they can make a decent living as a tribute band.

When I went to see U2 in New York a couple of months ago, on the way into the arena they were handing flyers out for a concert by a U2 tribute band at a nightclub later that night! Hmmm cause having just seen the real thing I'd want to go watch a tribute band!
