How do you get higher ranked than being in charge of all football matters? Did the others want to be King or God or summat?

But its positioning in the statement doesn't read like that. To me it reads as 'we interviewed loads of people but the popular choices wanted higher ranked jobs' which would imply they were interviewed but turned it down. If I had no intention of working for Barnsley I wouldn't go for an interview
