After watching Danny's interview. And saying about his slash and burn directive from above . And also going on what Ben said .. re Archeys post.. the "Wanted to go to youth after relegation" line. I think the club (Patrick) have had a great deal of luck since Christmas, and should heed the warning of the.. yoof policy. Weren't the club on its ar5e, rock bottom of the league and heading towards the abyss of L2 with said policy? And it wasn't till the introduction of the experienced Hammill Long and White which also coincided with the upturn in form of our 2 best current players .. Winnall and Hourihane...that things took a turn for the better. So I would say if it wasn't for the abandonment of the... lets go with yoof policy.. this season could very easily become a shambles.. And after the JPT as been and gone, and come the end of May, whichever league we are in.. The annual rebuild will begin again, with the same hierarchy still be in charge of recruitment... So l hope lesson's can be learned, And a yoof at all cost policy can at least be matched by experienced to give the team half a chance, whichever league we end up in...
Or you could argue we were very unlucky before Xmas we were losing by the odd goal having enough chances to win 3 games but not taking them.
Maybe that was because they dint have the experience to deal with things at that time ! therefore they were too inexperienced ! Anyone can spin things to whatever they want to say !
We have won 3 games on spin without Adam hammill or aidy white. They have made a diffrence to the squad no doubt and both are very good players at this level. But I think the losing run was more down to confidence and bad luck than no experience. What do I know though bring back Leroy lita and keef treacy.
I wouldn't say that we've abandoned the policy. The addition of 3 or 4 experienced heads may have steadied the ship, but we've still got an average age of about 22 years old. Sent from my I-Oven using the internets
Whatever the policy, whichever players you have the are no guarantees, hammill could easily have been part of a continued bad run it is mainly down to the manager /head coach whether we are successful or not and their ability to put a team together who gel and can compete in the league they are in. LJ got it wrong but through luck, good recruitment or good management he eventually got a team playing for each other who could compete at this level, listening to hecky on his interviews he can take us even further. What a weird argument. You're talking as though those three players have been there, seen it, done it, 30 year old+ battle hardened pros. Kevin Long is 25, has only played 22 games for Burnley and has spent the majority of his short career on loan at league 2 clubs. Aidy White is even younger at 24, yes he's played 85 times for Leeds in league 1/championship but compare that to Nyatanga's 200+ games in the championship and it's barely nothing. Hourihane, Winnall, Watkins are all 24/25 and have far more professional games under their belts than either Long or White. Not sure how you can credit them with adding experience to our side. They are quality players and that's what has helped our turnaround, it's nothing to do with whether or not we've implemented a youth policy and have decided to forgo that because we signed a 24 and 25 year old.
Thank Christ, now we're getting somewhere. The addition of 'quality' players... Long & White are very good players. Irrespective of age.
Oh neither would I.. but is asking fans to support with ST's, while watching effectively an under under 21 side....Is it relying on folks Barnsleyness too much?.. I suppose if the yoof is good enough is the answer.. and if our first team is competitive.
Its not about age.. its about money. The younger the player the cheaper he will be especially if he's picked up from non-league. The more experienced the player, the more he will cost... In a nutshell... nowt to do with our great the yoof is
