Quite rightly our fans are wringing their hands in despair and frustration at our current predicament. A deal of criticism is directed at our young players and more so at our Board, CEO and scouting system. Personally I feel with hindsight at the current situation, Stendal & Heckingbottom era, we need to go back to having a manager. It is often said the best form of government is a benevolent dictatorship. The difficulty is finding a benevolent dictator. Having a 'head coach' with limited authority and responsibility impacts on him being allowed to do what he wants with the team. Can you imagine the board, director of football or whoever telling Ferguson , Revie or Clough what to do. The Continental system may work for some teams I just don't think it is appropriate for BFC. The manager must be empowered to have total control of team affairs including the scouting and player acquisitions. It brings greater pressure to deliver and no excuses if sacked. I feel that we may be a club that sacks good managers as bad coaches.

Case of directors wanting power. Funny you mention Cloughie, we all know how he felt about directors and i agree with him. They know naff all about football and have zero qualifications for running the on field affairs
