Watched this documentary on Sky Atlantic last night. Would definitely recommend it. It's about a snowboarder called Kevin Pearce who was one of the favourites to win gold in Vancouver 2010. 2 months before the olympics in training he suffered a traumatic brain injury. The film charts the aftermath and his recovery and the staggering impact on his (amazing) family who are trying to deal with a son who is struggling to deal with his limitations. Some of the scenes with Kevin's brother who has down syndrome are heart breaking. I suffered a major head injury in a car crash when I was 7. Luckily, despite a fractured skull and a scar that runs right over the top of my head, I avoided any brain injury (well, or so I am told!). This film really reiterated how incredibly fortunate I was that my brain wasn't affected. Not many people wake up again, and those that do don't come back as the same person. Compelling viewing.
Just rewatched this for the second time. It's up there with The House I Live In as the best documentary I've ever seen. It's available on catch up on Sky, definitely worth watching
