Now i will try and do this right
    i apologise for any mistakes,
First of all,i am 77 ,5 foot 2 inches tall
at school i would never be bullied,
Oh i was scared, best thing to do,was keep your nose clean and avoid trouble, not always possible
in the army,it was alaway the shotest in front, and i was always in front, even when 100 men were split imto 3 groups, and i was front man in the third group i always ended front man in the first group
thats another way of growing up small, learn how to run fast, always a good way of getting out of trouble
Now in 1952, we went to Japan,to play real soldiers,i was in more danger there than in Korea
On this day we were to do a Forced march in the hot Blazing sun of japan summer 1952,and in full kit
Now ,imagine you are standing at the RED LION,worboro bridge and you look up at top of the Cutting or Ward green,But without the roads houses or any thing, your told go to the top of there,You think ,like me im fit a doddle, and as usual im first up,all the big lads come puffing behind, calling me as usual you little YORKY Barsteward!!....i look down at the Imaginary RED LION and think a doddle down hill al the way back....But hold on a Minute!!!??...yes we are going back, but not that way ,we are going towards Park road to donny road,to stirfoot then whits x,back to the RED LION(got The picture)..thats what the officer in charge said you are going that way back....there 250 of us,we set off back, one big Chap 6ft+cos he was given a 2 inch motar to carry besides his rifle,we set off back, the big ones start to falter first, then ME,i am behind the big lads take it turns to pull me,the officers in charge ,shouting if he falls leave him, they were pulling me ,carrying my rifle dragging me,until they could do no more....i collapsed in the Hot Japanese SUN,they left me,the ones in chrage did not care wether i was dead or not(TRUE)out of 250 ,they only expect 85 per caent to make it, how ever, i came round,i looked up ,and one of the lads had come back from the camp, there was an old Jap stood over me ,Pointing at the SUN,saying thats what did it.....But no,if that had been in Captivity in Korea,I was DEAD....how ever ,i survived, but sad to say..some of those big lads did not
Sorry Lads...TOUGH..but this Little YORKY Barsteward still thinks about you.......thanks for reading.......
