Last season post Wilson and with the exception of the Crawley game, we had several clean sheets with two 18 year old full backs and Nyatanga and Crainie as central defenders. This season with supposedly better defenders we are shipping in goals. Is the problem Nyatanga being too slow at left back, or are Mawson and Roberts not good enough. As individuals they seem excellent, but during matches I've seen, they do not gel.

Midfield not supporting. Fullbacks are being given no cover as we play nobody wide who is capable of tackling and tracking back, that means that the centre backs are out of position trying to cover the full backs and that causes us to concede. Add to that the fact that around the dd the midfield doesn't mark properly or tackle allowing free runs at goal, long range shots and clearances to be picked up by the opposition.

I think it's ironic that we have signed a squad of midfielder this season but that the midfields weaknesses are causing us problems at both ends of the pitch. The reason for that? We signed 700 identical players

Defensively we are much worse than under Wilson must be frustrating for such a defensively minded manager. As for the midfield we are constantly playing with 2 defensive midfielders so not sure the blame lies with them. Might be unpopular but we miss Cranie.

I think the defence isn't our problem

    It's the midfield supporting

Cranie became instantly unpopular the minute it was revealed he was our top earner but was consistently our best defender over the past couple of seasons.

No surprise we miss his experience & ability on the ball.

Mawson & Roberts are big talents though & I've no doubt they'll be keeping clean sheets soon
