Spain have just fetched Torres and Silva on as subs.

England would have have fetched on Andy Carroll and Stewart Downing

It's worse than that, we'd have started with James Milner, and Glen Johnson

We've obviously decided in this country that the worldwide commercial success of the Premier League is far more important than the national team so it takes us much longer to find and develop the real talent because the number of young English lads being given a chance in the first team is going down year on year.

To be fair to though, England always raise their game to suit the opposition, they haven't been really turned over by anyone and with a bit of luck in Euros/World Cups over the last 20 years and we could have easily had some semi-final/final appearances.

Germany hammered them a couple of years ago. They were lucky it was only 4.

That happens when you're chasing a game in a knockout competition, if Lampard's goal had stood then it would have been very different.

I disagree mate. If Lampard's goal had stood it would've been 4/5/6-2 to Germany. They murdered England that day from the first whistle and before Lampard's "goal" they could've already been 4 or 5 up.

True but they are ex players so they must know what they're on about. I'll be completely honest and say I couldn't give a flying fig what jocks think about the English football team. Having said that I don't give a to55 what English ex pros think about the team either.

Difference: Spain beat Tahiti 10-0. We'd have beaten them 2-0. 3 at a push and Rooney would probably have got sent off.
