...is the fact that your team letting you down and bringing you crashing back down to earth can take days in cricket, but only ninety minutes in football. Pessimistic? Me?
There is that But a Barnsley defeat can screw me up for a week. This England loss will barely register after the first pint tonight.
RE: There is that It affects me badly losing to Australia, always has. Even though I know we are underdogs and I tell myself not to get excited I can't help it. I'm absolutely gutted now when I see Gilchrist giving Tresco some lip after he's out and Brett Lee (FFS) being a cocky ****, I hate it. I know they do it to wind England up (and me) and it works perfectly but I can't rise above it. I applaud Australia for their talent but I f'king hate them, especially the young cocky ones that look like they stepped off Neighbours.
There is some good news I've decided I wouldn't shag Brett Lee afterall. He's one of them that's drop dead gorgeous from about 4 miles away. Close up - urgh.
Think yourself lucky Over in Barnsley at the moment are my Uncle and Auntie, my three cousins, their partners and six of my half cousins. All Australians. ********.
Don't give much of a toss if my cricket team loses but affects me for days if my football team loses.
RE: There is that I think that, given evidence of the one-day matches and some aspects of the first test, there is not that much between the two sides. Harmison and McGrath look both class front line bowlers. Lee and Simon Jones cancel each other out. Pietersen has a counterpart in Clarke on this evidence. There are just two major differences, which have tipped the balance so far: 1. Shane Warne - we have no one like him. I just knew he would break through as soon as they brought him on. Do you think we could bring on Deadly Derek Underwood as a sub? 2. The quality of fielding, especially catching. We can do something about the latter, but we can only do something about the former if Warne gets injured. I can just see the headlines being 'Warne's Ashes!'
