yesterday we did well at the back. we have a good keeper (amazing what a run in the side can do 4 confidence) and our defence plays pretty reasonably as a unit for the division we're in. For those fans who post on here and can't/don't make away games we are usually a pretty solid defensive side. they give us the jitters sometimes but most defences do that - just look at Newcastle. swindon were poor yesterday and had no real threat but its still easy to concede as strikers in this division can finish so a clean sheet is still the biz. we have 2 leaders at the back - reid and hassell. i know some of you will go nuts at the mention of hassell but he's in the side cos he can defend and as a battling character - kay and austin can learn loads from him
RE: yesterday I agree, theres no problem with our defence. Colgan - great shot stopper and improved in other departments. Austin - Strong tackler and a battler. Reid - Leader, good in the air, strong, quick and composed on the ground. Carbon - Brilliant in the air, strong on the ground. Hassell - Reads the game brilliantly, always one step ahead. We have a brilliant defence and midfield. Just look at all of the clean sheets we have kept and the majority of our goals have come from midfield. I believe the only weakness in the squad is Marc Richards.
No problem with the defence When they are all fit, well & available. For my money, we need to add another left back, only got Williams who's a natural there, & also another centre half. A few injuries & suspensions at the back will expose our lack of proper cover.
