Oh dear. He's never been a shouter, but what's happened to him? Saturday was a confidence-sapper, but rabbits in headlights have more about them than Luke did tonight. JOB was berating him in the first half for not seizing control of setting up the wall at a Derby free kick - Luke stood in the goalmouth limply brandishing a few fingers in his general direction. Time and again he failed to come for crosses or through balls that were HIS, plain and simple, and naturally, he was nowhere to be found for their goal. Good shot-stopper yes, but that's a small part of a keeper's game these days. Needs to go on an assertiveness course or summat, or find a bit more aggression from somewhere. Saved us a point tonight with an early save, but ultimately cost us two.
Cant just blame him. We shot outselves in the foot to be even having to defend like we did. Was like watching tennis tonight. Big wellies on for both sides. Not pretty.
Agree. Complete liability. He must've cost us at least 20 goals this season with poor judgement on crosses and not commanding his 6 yard box. It's no good keep saying he's a good shot stopper ALL keepers make good saves. How bad does he have to be to get dropped?
It's a weird one. He made a great save first half when Derby broke through and I'm thinking that he's back to his best. Then he shanks a couple in to the stand and you start thinking 'come on Luke, get it together'. Then finally for their goal he seemed to come out to collect the corner, got blocked by one of their players, and ended up missing it. I had found my confidence in him slipping away as the game went on. As for dropping him, no way. I don't rate Alnwick above him at all.
