Direct quote from Keith Hill's press conference (4'10" in if you want to go looking).

It says a lot with regard to the job he's taken on. I think it's as close as you'll get to an admission from anyone within BFC as to where the expectation is this season.

He's also used the Aldi/Selfridges metaphor in the same interview so far.

Still listening to the interview, but those words resonated hard with me.

They fired Andy Ritchie for holding similar views.

I wish he'd said that before I shelled out for a season ticket !

They also let Mark Robins go for not wanting to work under those conditions so they can hardly get rid of someone who's prepared to take the job on under those circumstances.

Whoever came in next would face the same lack of resource to work with.

"I knew the remit when I came to this football club but, for me, I think the remit's been explained to supporters but they probably haven't listened."

I'm a bit wary of posting this one, as some will interpret it as another dig at the fans, which it's not when heard in context of the interview.

However, I disagree that we've had the full extent of the issues explained in these terms as yet by BFC. I didn't hear anyone saying 'buy a season ticket, although we'll probably be relegated this year'.

This is a dynamite interview - an incredibly honest assessment of the situation, as painful as it is to hear.

Well done to Keith Hill for being this candid.

It's one of the best you can hear.

I think the fans have got carried away rather than Hill etc with the pre-season results and performances. I don't think Hill has ever said anything different other than he wants to play a certain type of football and that we're limited in the players we can bring in.

The best bit is where he says how much of a learning curve it is. Now he just needs to change something. But, if you remember his first interview, he said then he was under no illusions that results are paramount.

    We'll be reight.

You need to listen to it to understand the context.

In no way does it come across as negative or defeatist. Quite the opposite, in my opinion.

why not post the rest of that sentance.......

"The expense of retaining Championship status is no longer there for us" ...so we have to find another way of doing it.

post like this are just trying to fan the flames

I dont know how you have interpreted what he said, but I think it just means what everyone knows.

There is no longer the cash to loan premier division players to keep us up, so we need to do it with cheaper player.

Not a defeated attitude for me just truthful

But Hemsy was arguing on here just before the start of the season that Hill has money to spend and abusing everyone who thought otherwise. You don't know who to believe do you?

Think it was a very honest interview, said exactly what I said - Southampton and Middlesbro' are giants of the league. He did say that he believes we can stay up, didn't hear anything negative, just asking for the fans not to put unrealistic pressure on the team as its counter-productive. He's right.
