If they had done so on Monday it would have dominated the back pages, so they waited until the day of a Chmpions League night in the hope that it would get buried. Is it too late to pull out of the FA Cup?
I think you're right- deliberate timing With all the Champions League games and a full football league programme last night, the story was always going to slip down the pages. In the Sun there's just one column 10 pages in from the back- with no view on the decision- just stating the verdict and our response. However, I heard on Alan Brazil's show this morning that there is a paper thats gone to town slating the FA for being spineless. I'm sure we'll find out which one soon enough. Brazil himself called the FA Clowns and said the punishment should have been the same at Ben Thatchers. Also said that the FA had made matters worse because instead of just going away, the story will now run and run, both through the courts and thru ongoing arguements that the FA lack any sense of the game nor powers to act when something clearly wrong happens.
RE: Bang on! The FA must have been able to decide within a day that the footage provided did not show intent to their satisfaction. Delaying the announcement of their decision had nothing to do with deliberating a punishment. It seems likely they sought to bury it in a high-profile matchday. Cowards.
RE: Bang on! I'd say it is more probable they waited to announce it after our live game on Sky - for fear of on TV demonstrations !
Don't Be Daft What does losing money by not participating in the oldest cup competition in the world achieve?
nah - win it and when we go up to collect the cup - lift a banner about hume first that would go worldwide! right... just got to get to the final now.
