...that since Ginola's wonder goal knocked us out in the quarter-finals in 1998/99 we have been knocked out at the first hurdle every year since, apart from when we knocked out Liverpool and Chelsea and got to the semi-final at Wembley in 2007/08! Quite incredible really!

So if we win tomorrow we'd best get measured up for our Wembley suits then...

Last thing we need this year is a cup run. Can't help but feel our Premier League cup run did us in for relegation. Those wins in the league and we would easily have stayed up.

What I really want is a good league run. Back to back wins.

    That's incorrect

When in the ale house league, we twice made it through to the third round (2003/04 & 2005/06) and were beaten in replays on both occasions.

Alright smartypants, so I forgot which seasons we were down there when I looked at the list of which rounds we got knocked out! Of course, what I meant to say was this...

...that since Ginola's wonder goal knocked us out in the quarter-finals in 1998/99 we have got no further than the third round since, apart from when we knocked out Liverpool and Chelsea and got to the semi-final at Wembley in 2007/08! Quite incredible really!

So if we win tomorrow we'd best get measured up for our Wembley suits then...

Disagree, it's all about momentum. I thought that it was no co-incidence that the cup run in 1998 coincided with an outstanding run of home form in the league. The only match where I felt we looked jaded was the 2-2 draw with Everton immediately after the Spurs replay.

I've never understood people wanting us to be knocked out of the FA Cup. Can't we want us to win every game? When I was younger the crowds actually used to go up for FA Cup games, but now nobody is interested.

Then again, in 2008 I was one of those who would have been happy to get relegated if we could have won the Cup.

100% agree with the last two posts. Being able to concentrate on the league is just spin managers use. We want to win games, look at us at the moment, how anybody could think a win tomorrow would not do our morale a world of good is beyond me.
