<p class="big">The Football Association has confirmed there will be an investigation into the incidents that followed Barnsley's 1-0 victory over Birmingham on Easter Monday.</p> Friction between Birmingham's on-loan striker Nicklas Bendtner and Barnsley centre-back Antony Kay led to a brawl involving several players from both sides after the final whistle at Oakwell.</p> Referee Mike Russell dismissed Barnsley's Bobby Hassell and Birmingham substitute Neil Danns for violent conduct, which could lead to three-match bans, but the investigation opens up the possibility of further punishment for the sides.</p> "The incident was reported by the referee and we are making further inquiries," said a Football Association spokesman.</p> "We will be looking at footage of the incident."</p> Birmingham boss Steve Bruce admitted he was 'disappointed' with events.</p> "We'll have to wait for the referee's report and review things when we've had a good look at the whole incident.</p> "Obviously there can be frustration on both sides in a highly-charged game and I'm disappointed with the reaction from some."</p>
