Maybe I’m bored this morning but..., I’m a bus driver, I work for Tates and I’ve been doing really well lately. I go that extra mile for my passengers. They really appreciate it, word spreads and more people are getting on my bus than they do on the competition. All those passengers to a man (or woman or child) are really happy with me and love me for doing what I do. I had customers all over Barnsley writing to WAB, Twitter and on Facebook saying how good I was. It was really nice. CoachLeStage, the main competition picked up on this, knew of my reputation and offered me a job which nearly doubled by wages, and gave me more variety in my day to day role. As tempting as it was, I was loyal and stood by Tates. After I'd turned this down, we had a problem, my destination equipment stopped working. People couldn’t see where I was going which reduced numbers. Then the ticket machine broke and numbers went down further in turn meaning less cash collected. Finally, I was not given a float, meaning I couldn’t give change. Due to contractual obligations, it was going to be January before this situation improved. Service got so poor that despite me being me, and doing the same as I was before, I was eventually driving an empty bus. People weren't happy. Those same people took to their complaint to WAB, Twitter and the company FB group directly and complained personally about me. (Some) People were actually calling for me to be sacked. I can’t believe it, can you? Oh, by the way, the service was suggested by me, and if it wasn’t for me woudn’t have been where we are now anyway. ---- OK, that’s absolute drivel, but you get my point. It’s too early at 10.04 on a Sunday morning to post anything better.
Haha, it's a tidy comparison is that. And you're bang right, the man in control hasn't necessarily lost his ability to do his job if his work 'tools' start to fail him.
Think I know a bus driver that took the other company's offer , You may know him his name is M, Roberts
Good analogy and post. I suspect Hecky is on a bit more dosh than you though. He knows the job of a football manager is a tenuous one. I suspect if you were dismissed you wouldn't get the same sort of pay off. I agree with the sentiment that folks need to calm down a bit, but they are paying customers and are freely allowed to air their views. Having a go at individual players at a match or on twitter is however counterproductive. Forums like this are the place to bairn about stuff. If players / managers choose to go on here, they do so at their peril.
