So far then: Played 7, Scored 13, highest in the division. Conceded 18, 7 more than anyone else.

I'm coming round to the fact that scoring isn't a problem, even in this league, particularly the way McIndoe is playing to back up Hayes and Richards but to say we don't need a central defender! Don't make me laugh Mr. Ritchie.

I agree, it's now blatantly obvious to us all that ...

... we are conceding far too many goals (18 in 7 games is awful) and AR has got to a) firstly acknowledge that he needs to bring in one or two experienced defenders; and
    b) get off his arse and do summat about it.

I have to admit, whilst I thought we would be just about good enough to stay in this league, I did think we would struggle in midfield and up front as well as at the back but I'm now pleasantly surprised that our midfield/forwards are proving they are good enough (although a bit more depth in the squad in those areas would be nice).

At least the team/squad only needs a bit of 'fine-tuning' and not a complete overall, but the 'fine-tuning' at the back needs to be done now. Loyalty to the promotion winning team is very admirable, and great for team spirit, but an immediate return to league one just because the manager fails to address the only blatant weakness in the team is pure stupidity.

So come on Andy, wake up and smell the coffee with the rest of us, cos if you address that weakness now, we can look forward to an enjoyable, entertaining season without the threat of relegation hanging over us for the next 7/8 months. If you bury your head in the sand, stick to your guns and stick by the current squad for too long it will all surely end in tears for the majority of us and at the Jobcentre for you!

    The problem is...

That we might need to change our style of play to be tighter and therefore struggle to win as many matches/score as many goals.

If we get a centre half that can handle the big lads then we might not have to do anything drastic. I'd also suggest a new left back and mebbe playing Austin in place of Hassell

If we just bring in a big, experienced Centre Half ....

.... it shouldn't affect the rest of our game and inhibit us going forward.

Personally I'd bring Heckingbottom back for Williams as well and I agree that Austin in the side will give us a bit more strength and aggression, but not sure the latter two suggestions will stem the flow of goals against!
