I’m not sure why they’ve focused on the arse holes though. I had to turn it off after half hour I was that annoyed. One of the blokes who broke in was getting interviewed in the programme saying he would do anything he could to get a ticket, took down 3 grand in cash hoping to get someone else’s ticket and how much watching England means to him. What a load of rubbish. If I remember right, you only had to have gone to 2 previous home games to qualify for a ticket for the final! These so called England fans had clearly never been to a game before and just broke in. Ruined it for everyone else and now They’ve made a programme of it. Must admit though, after the game it was a shambles, but before I had a decent day from what I remember. There was a lot of drinking on the streets mind.
The whole set up was a shambles, only 2/3s of the ground being open. Not making excuses at all but the government and the FA got a lot wrong that day. No excuses for the thuggery, granted. It could have been managed a damn sight better, mind:
I was there that day with my mate, a very strange day…..the English didn’t cover themselves in glory at all but I can tell you know there was hundreds of foreigners roaming around the turnstiles trying to sneak in too…….when we got to the gates it was toxic, the police and authorities lost control that day!! Wembley way is now alcohol free which is good however there’ll be many fans, some on here too, who’ll have enjoyed a few beers stood on Wembley way soaking up the atmosphere…….the minority that day ruined it. I’ve not seen the programme yet but if it shows you the trouble inside then those who were sneaking in that got a clip then they fully deserved it!
he was an entitled pillock, “I REALLY want to go - so that means I deserve to even if I have to break the law, assault someone and risk other people’s lives” The police should be contacting the programme makers for his name, charging him and then issuing a football banning order.
I think it was mate. I’m sure you only needed somthing like 4 caps for a ticket, you would’ve had to pay for expensive ones like, but would’ve been entitled to one. There was 60 thousand tickets, we would’ve only had about 20 thousand members. I didn’t go to all the games during that cycle and I was in the cheapest ticket bracket. I’m pretty sure the marker was really low. Either way, if these so called die hards wanted to go that much, the bar was pretty low for games you had to have attended.
I watched that program on Saturday night. Really scary scenes. Dreadful policing and stewarding. Both totally unprepared. And those idiots throwing tins and bottles into the air not caring whose head they landed on. Still it all ended well when it didna come home.
It was organised(sic) by UEFA who would struggle to organise a p*ss up in a brewery. Firstly why, on the same day a capacity centre court crowd had watched the men’s final at Wimbledon, did they limit the capacity at Wembley so much? Secondly having witnessed the chaos on Wembley Way before the semi-finals why weren’t the approaches to the stadium managed better? Third - 8pm kick-off giving people plenty of time to get rat faced. Last 8pm kick off again with the possibility of the game going to extra time and penalties as it did then obviously UEFA, the police and London Transport will have co-operated and extra transport links would have been arranged won’t they? Nope, normal Sunday service, I got the final train back to Euston which was rammed leaving hundreds behind on the platform, when it arrived at Euston the Northern line was closed leaving me with a two mile walk back to Camden at half past midnight. To top off a wonderful experience I tested positive for C19 the following day. Now I’m not making excuses for the idiots causing the trouble but it was so predictable and much of it could have been avoided and prevented had a competent organiser been in charge.
My son and I were there that day. Worth mentioning it wasn’t just Wembley where the chaos was but across London. It just seemed that post lockdown this was an event where people went a bit bonkers. We got to the turnstiles just as the lockdown happened, lots of people trying to get in and probably the worst I’ve seen at any game. Inside was not much better, concourses full of people absolutely plastered. Once in our seats things were a lot better. What should have been a great day out tarnished by loons.
I wonder how it was resolved inside? Obviously people couldn’t sit in their own seats too many people forced their way in. Also feel for some fans with tickets who probably didn’t see the game due to trying to stop morons breaching the turnstiles, not saying an eye for an eye but some will have been arrested or ejected after striking them coming in.
Felt nowt but embarrassment watching it. Some proper a-holes about! Still can't fathom why the police didn't take control as the situation was worsening. Thing is; if we get to the quarters or semis and then fail, all the mongs will be charging around most towns and cities over here, wrecking stuff!!
