Football games and the towns they're played in are now better policed, the Transport police also do a good job and football hooliganism isn't what it was like during the 70's & 80's. Just a thought l had whilst l think about walking into tarn on Saturday morning at 7am to get on the Charlton bus. A decent priced train leaving Barnsley at 9am would be ideal. Couple of reports on them http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/1487085/Rail-firms-greet-football-specials-return.html http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2007/feb/15/football.transport
Chelsea brought one in the cup - I was sat on the station with a red scarf in as thousands if stunned looking Chelsea fans walked past
Would be great - no good for me of course but have some interesting memories of getting them in my youth but whether the economics work is doubtfull - No idea how much it is to charter a train these days but I doubt they could get close to the £20 a ticket by coach
Would be great, would make travelling to away games more fun and easier. BUT, I don't see the demand being there most of the time. We'd only ever require one for local derbies, maybe Forest and Derby and the odd cheap one like Charlton. To bring it all in again I think the demand would need to be greater. People would assume the specials would trigger hooliganism and probably avoid them. On a side note, this Saturday aside, it's always stuck me how few of our fans travel by train and opt for pub buses. Yet many other clubs tend to have high numbers on trains and fewer pub buses.
i always go on the train and unless its a Tuesday game, and i'm not drinking, and id say theres about 20 to 40 that go on the train to all away games,
