Saw it mentioned on here a month or so ago by its owner(??).

Went yesterday for Sunday lunch. Quality!!

Gorgeous pub itself - Lovely area and surroundings and the food was outstanding. (My beef was well done though - I love it like that and was over the moon but would understand if others thought it was over done......):confused:
Also the weather was gorgeous too!!!

Top afternoon out - Highly recommended peeps!!!

That explains why you like your beef overcooked - a burnt piece of beef and a chemical lager - - doesnt appeal to me at all

Were the veg nice and mushy too?

Serious question as my parents love overcooked beef and veg - dont like it if beef is pink in the middle and the veg are a bit crunchy

Personally I prefer beef on the rare side but each to their own.

Same goes for Lamb (but not pork!)

I can only speak for myself, but I prefer my beef very rare, as rare as possible - blood, snot, fur, eyeballs - the lot! So rare in fact, that it is still alive and chomping peacefully on grass in a world free of Tories, haters, crap game shows and electronic pitchside advertising. I'm talking rare!

Just my opinion and I'm welcome to it.:)

    Hello Mr Potter,
Glad you enjoyed our pub and your meal. always good to get feedback, positive or negative, it all helps!
I am a bit concerned that the beef was well done, if you did not ask for it that way. It's normally cooked medium/rare then put in oven for a bit longer if customers want it less pink.
I will have words! Pleased by your good review tho mate, thanks for posting.

No complaints at all from me mate. The beef though def wasnt medium/rare. Thank god. Ha Ha. Nicest meal in a long long time. Gorgeous pub too. Obvious alot of hard work gone into it. Will definately be back at somepoint. The evening menus looked good also........

you wernt in the Rampsbeck Hotel near Ullswater last october were you? Me and the Mrs were perusing the menu when the guy sitting not too far away having ordered lamb was asked how he wanted it cooked.... "Properly!" was his answer in a loud broad south Yorkshire accent ( have got a bit rusty living down south for the last 28 years so I cant place the exact town like I used to be able to but it wasnt sheffield! ) I had mine pink and it was really good but I expect he enjoyed his just as much. It wasnt you was it?

Roar it quietly and you never know! My business partner who runs it day to day is Portuguese and supports Porto, so you may get more joy down that route (not that I know any Porto chants).
