    I can only remember James Coburn (on his bike over the Alps) and Charles Bronson and his mate (rowing down the river) who actually escaped...

    Can anyone remember any others ?????

    You're quite right ....

    ..... mis-read the post and thought you were just after the list of stars :D

    </p>

    As you say I think Coburn, Bronson and his mate were the only ones to actually escape although technically I guess they all escaped but some didnt make it very far !

    In Reality

    In Reality,the final scene where the 50 were mown down en masse,is not correct,individual escapers,were usually murdered fairly close to their places of capture after being handed to the Gestapo.After the War the RAF Police hunted down quite a few of the gunmen,and several were hanged.
    It seems very surprising but much of the evidence against the killers,came from German doctors' and Crematorium records,where staff
    refused to falsify paperwork to support a shot while escaping theory.The leader of the escape was a South African,Roger Bushell,his murderers,were convicted on exactly this evidence.
