Did anyone frequent this place when it was up and running? It was somewhat off the beaten track with regards to the pub-run at weekends, but it was handy for a spot of under-age drinking.
or the old Alhambra, had a few good nights in there as well, before it was knocked down to build the Gyngleboy.
vine tavern were good an all what with disco bit in't back room , some bleeder knocked me spark out with one good headbutt' i've never been able to forget the pain of that and it were 37yrs ago the guy had a nickname cheyanne or sommat like that ,mind you it were a good boozer for the ladies happy time's ....(dancin)
The Alhambra..... Was it called Changes for a while? What about the Penny farthing? I once popped in there one Sunday as i was making way home from a party the previous night, and this woman (aged about 50-odd) came out of the toilet, put summat on the jukebox and started stripping. Me and my mates were cracking up, but the old drunks really enjoyed the 'turn'.
White Hart 'disco'..... Very dark and very loud indeed. I once got sparked out with a headbutt in there cos i couldn't understand what it was he was trying to say to me. It was after i said "pardon" instead of "you what" that he stuck it on me. Split my nose - ouch!
RE: White Hart 'disco'..... I've heard a mate of mine tell that story. You don't happen to be Wakka (or however you spell it) do you?
Used to be so busy on a thursday night, being pay day for most, that you used to go round the bar on what seemed like a conveyor belt.
elbowed your way to the bar and if you could get your feet off the glue like carpet you were transported by shear weight of the masses round the bar to the disco area from whence you made your escape via the back door.
ah the memories!

I did mate.. Friday nights especially as the ladies seemed to outnumber the lads, which is always a good start when out on the pull
White Hart.... Ahhh. I'd forgotten about the carpet. If you were at the 'bottom end' it seemed to becaome the norm to just pop outside and have a piss in the alley rather than fight yerself through to the bogs.
RE: The Alhambra..... I think you're right .... it was called the 'Changes' at one time, but, then down stairs at the Old No.7 ... always chocker, was a favorite, then out the back door, down to the White Hart and then onto Wellington street.
