Having watched Whitey's tribute to Hassell, and considering the apparent illogicality of him being ignored by the previous three managers (particularly when considering the attributes of some of the players who've been regulars), I found myself wondering whether he possibly just didn't fit in due to his well-publicised commitment to other things in his life that would him render him untypical of the stereotypical footballer. I know this sounds daft, but is it any more so than Graeme Le Saux being ostracised by his team-mates (and having assumptions made about his se*ual preferences) just because he read the Guardian and did crosswords in the 'posh' papers? Utterly ridiculous I know, but so was the fact that he was otherwise inexplicably left out of the worst 'team' seen at Oakwell for many years. Or more probably he was just carrying an injury.....
