Still can't believe they've sold that prime position to Lidl. What's going to be next to it? #faceofBarnsley
West Way will be when there's two supermarkets at one end and that at the other. Then people wonder why tarn centre shops are shutting!
Houghton don't care...he'll be off to his ivory tower soon to count his pennies allpoliticiansaregits.com
Dunno mate, should have worded it BMBC granted their application. New town centre on the horizon with big companies already signed up and they are still selling out to pound shops in prime area's. Tesco are wanting the land at the old bowling place, l'd rather they were at the town end roundabout if we're to have a supermarket there. Originally it was going to be one big Lidl, at least that's changed. To get rid of the filth in town you have to get rid of the **** shops. Very rare you see smackheads walking down the aisles of Meadowhall, and now the Oasis has a different set up the gangs have all but disappeared.
The council's probably in a no win situation on this. Block the planning aproval and then fight (and loose - with that ****** Pickles in charge) an expensive legal battle by the developer; or agree to the scheme with a few sweetners thrown in by the developer i.e. some trees and landscaping.
you can well imagine what the sweetners were and who got them...... and we aint talking about trees!! .... in my opinion obviously / allegedly etc etc hth
2K12!!! When it's as easy to write it properly! As for Lidl, they actually sell some decent stuff at lower prices. Nice to know everyone on here can afford the "higher end" of the market. I'd rather see that Lidl there than the empty shop that was there for ages.
Granted the area is now nice and its landscaped nicely but the town is trying to get its custom back from Meadowhall which killed it when it was built, it isn't going to with the likes of Lidl etc. Hopefully Odeon, Debenhams, H&M, Nando's etc will get some of the people back into town instead of getting on the train and the town will be buzzing again.
people are allowed their opinions are they not....... or do we now come under the peoples republic of china rules? i can see no direct allegations of anything actually Mr D Yson hth
