Nottingham beating Northern thanks to Malan be handy if someone like that played for Yorkshire and could be playing for the northern superchargers eh? Also pity we haven’t got a really good bowler like that oval team have got something Thompson I think he’s called. Also that Notts team have got Root, I hear he’s a handy player. Anyway, luckily the 50 over side hasn’t been effected by losing players to “The Hundred” franchises based in other counties…..otherwise that would just be rubbing our noses in it.
Must admit it’s a bit annoying isn’t it. Though whoever put the butter on the superchargers hands before they came out to field was a big contributor to the defeat too
Embrace the 50 over comp. Young squads with some exciting talent emerging. Decent crowds, out grounds, most games available on Youtube. Loving it.
It was on in the pub on Monday and I couldn’t even figure out the batters or the score just by looking at the screen. Sound was down and Five finger death punch were on jukebox
It was weird the Headingley based franchise only having two Yorkshire players, but our opponents having three of them. Superchargers have gone down the old man route like CSK do in the IPL hoping experience counts for a lot. We are capable of putting out I think 8 players aged 34 and over. Anyway tomorrow night the Superchargers women play at Oval in the delayed due to the Commonwealth Games women's event. We have Alyssa Healy ranked 1st in ODIs and 9th in T20s who's just won a gold medal. Laura Wolvaardt ranked 4th in ODIs and 14th in T20s that has had a brilliant series against England and took that form in to the Commonwealth Games. Jemimah Rodrigues is 10th in the T20 rankings. Superchargers could be overpriced to win the whole thing. If those three click it will be like when SRH in the IPL had Warner, Bairstow and Williamson as their top three. We also have Heather Graham as the 4th overseas who's an all rounder and got shut of Winfield Hill who was rubbish last season. http://www.relianceiccrankings.com/ranking/womenodi/batting/ http://www.relianceiccrankings.com/ranking/woment20/batting/
I haven't watched much of the 100, to be honest. I do agree that the teams could do with some resetting. The Northern Superchargers got a Central contract and a white ball contract pick from the NS covered players (Yorkshire and Durham ?) To be fair to them who wouldn't pick Ben Stokes and Adil Rashid? I think the problems come that others rate Bairstow Root Malan Thompson highly so they have gone for good contracts where some of the other teams have got their good local players because others didn't rate them so highly. On the format. I do Wish it was T/20. It just feels odd it's been a 5 ball over essentially.
It was nice he was over here to watch her He probably played a part in her signing by talking up his time at Headingley. She was missed last year but no Aussies were involved because they wouldn't have been allowed home after. A year later than planned but a coup.
Could you imagine stopping the football season in March for a month, telling over half the teams sorry you aren’t playing we only need 8, then telling half the players you’ve got to play for a different team or if you don’t get picked you’ve got to play for the reserves, In a cup competition that we aren’t bothered about… by the way that cup we aren’t bothered about we are the World Cup holders of, oh and we aren’t going to play 90 mins, it’s only a 15 mins each way game but let’s charge the fans the same price Utterly bonkers
I was at the game last night and it was really good except watching yorkshire players at headingley who aren't playing for yorkshire is weird. Good atmosphere tho..
Some big Derby games in the Hundred... Manchester vs The rest of the north London vs a tube station in London Birmingham vs a river that flows through Nottingham and of course, the feirce derby that is Wales vs the South of England. I don't mind the concept (though not sure why we need a 4th format) or the idea of a franchise competition. But they've managed to lose the interest of many existing fans, without taking the game to new areas
I’ve been in semi retirement since March so thought it would be a good idea to get a Yorkshire membership as I’ve always liked a day out at the cricket . Didn’t do my homework though as there have been so few home games that it’s virtually impossible to get my money’s worth. I can’t be arsed to check but from memory there were only 1 or 2 games in the whole of July and apart from a couple of County Championship games in September, the season is all but over. The membership doesn’t include The Hundred games; not that I’d be interested in any case. To make matters worse, it’s not possible to watch the evening 20 20 games and get back to Penistone by public transport and driving to the games is hardly a viable alternative as you have to get across Leeds at the height of rush hour. For financial reasons it’s all too headingley centric so I doubt that I’ll be renewing.
In July there were 2 county games at Scarborough which hasn’t happened for a long while. I know it’s not ideal for you but you do get preference for international games at Headingley
watched 3 of the hundred games on tv so far, ns at mo was a fantastic game to watch, but i simply won't give them any of my cash because of the detriment they are causing to our county game went to scarborough sat/sun, thoroughly enjoyable day out in the sunshine and will probably make chezzy in 2 weeks the 100 is all about money, but if it gets a few into watching cricket then it's not all bad
Will Smeed with the first ever hundred of the Hundred. Only twenty years old. He's got a great future ahead of him.
