The ineptitude of the clowns running BFC

Two of our best players Davies and Steele both asked to start contract talks in September indicating a desire to stay at BFC the club do nothing until near the start of the transfer window, despite losing players for nothing or for a fraction of there worth many times before when faced with similar circumstances and surprise surprise it's happening again. It really is time for Rowing to go and take Mr invisible Taylor with him.

 

You couldn't make it up really, especially this season, its really starting to take the biscuit. Don talking about realigning to club with the fans, then hows about knocking the price down to 15 quid for the remainder of the season to get some people in to help drag us out this mire. But it won't happen.

 

they offered them contracts and they said they want to concentrate on their football, which means they have to intentions of signing but the board can't make them sign, so have no choice but to let them "concentrate on their football" now with the transfer window opening they will have said are you signing that deal or not we need a answer because if your not we want to get you off the books asap, and they will have said no so now bfc will have said well tell us who it is thats as told you they'll pay you more then us and we'll try and do a deal to get you away next month good bye and good riddance, i can't see what more the club can do to be honest

 

But lets not forget that about 2/3 weeks ago, Luke Steele came out and said quite clearly that he loved Barnsley Football Club and WANTED to sign a new contract. Now, I am no business guru, but if I was the Don, after hearing that, it would make sure it would be the next thing I do. Okay, granted, he has had a few shaky games recently, but this is a goalkeeper that many were touting for an England call-up not so long ago.

The first time we get a fantastic player coming out willing to show some loyalty to the club and we just sit about and do nothing. To be a championship club, you need to be organised off the pitch just as much as on.

 

They all love Barnsley Football Club when it suits them. Sorry to shatter your illusion but very rarely is it true.

but the other side of the coin is, what do we do if we give him a contract now and then go down he's the highest paid player at the club, his wage could cripple us with a league 3 income we might have to wait and see what league we're in before we can offer the top paid player a contract for the good of the club

 

Well, I just think that the more we can cram into Oakwell to get behind the team the better. Especially after such a run of bad results and the position we are in, we should be doing everything we can to get people back on match days. Just my opinion obviously, I may be talking rubbish.

 

Or the club could put a clause in the contract reducing wages if we go down but no we'll **** about do nothing and get shafted once again you are supposed to learn for experience but these clowns don't the clubs on it's arse and run by clowns you really couldn't make it up

 

There wouldn't be many players queuing up to sign up to such a contract clause in the forthcoming transfer window

 

The trouble with the Luke Steele situation (as far as I know) is that he signed at a time (and subsequently re-signed) when our budget was somewhat higher and is one of the highest earners at the club if not THE highest. If he agrees to new terms then he probably looking at a substantial pay-cut. Another club may be prepared to offer him at least what he is on now to be their second or third choice keeper.

It doesn't matter how loyal you are, you have to look after yourself and think about the future. Most of our players won't have the luxury of retiring and not having to get another job so you can't blame them for wanting to set themselves up better for the future financially.

It does annoy me when players try to engineer moves away from a club miles before the end of their contract though, like Don said in his interview, a lot of players are already thinking about their next move before the ink is dry on their contract.

 

Pinball I totally agree at filling oakwell and as a season ticket holder I'd be more than happy to knock prices down but i feel that if Rowing knocked it down to a fiver you'd get someone complaining. The blokes in an absolute no win situation.

 

I'll second that. Sounds like a perfectly reasonable guy to me but he's the scapegoat for everything that people perceive is wrong with the club.

 

Steele has not ever been offered a contract by the club this season, Not one enquiry about whether he will sign a new deal. Not now , not last month, not September, not August, NOT AT ANY TIME has he been asked!

I wish the problems at bfc were only about the entrance fee, they're not I'm afraid. The only way attendances will improve is through better performances
