Personally I'd have sacked him weeks ago. The Altrincham defeat would have been the final straw. But much stronger than my dislike for Johnson as a manager is my love for Barnsley as a club. I was delighted we won on Saturday and hope we win this weekend too. I hope Lee Johnson turns this round, proves most of us wrong and leads us to promotion next season. Our biggest concern remains at board level. Mr Cryne said he is leaving via Facebook but not much has been said since then. We as fans deserve better than that - surely?
We are in this mess because we sack managers for fun, this fella is here to stay, we have come to the end of the line so I think people had better get use to it, it's how it is so stop moaning get behind the manager, players, or ship out
I'm going to Colchester to support the players as they appear to be playing with some spine and guts. He should have been sacked long ago but hasn't been but i still care and if the players do then they deserve the support. I dearly want us to defeat Colchester and start climbing the table, as i have stated before this game is massive. The board for me are a joke! Cryne leaving Facebook? He can do what he wants for me but don't use social media as a means of communicating with the fans! Its annoying and there are Official channels within the framework of the club for doing this ie: The Club Website. The fans are getting a raw deal at the moment and if communications are to be posted about future intentions please implement them via Official channels . The meeting at Athersley could have been advertised better but correct me if i am wrong, nothing was posted on the Official website
Your right Matt. If he'd to be sacked it would have happened already and will not happen now . Theres clearly a long term plan in place for younger players and improving the squad with growth. The previous manager wasn't for that and things like rose out and Lita in or the fact that G Smith made his debut in late December with Reece Brown playing lb before him backs this up. With Mr Cryne I don't think a he's changed. He's always wanted out but he's become more public in the way he communicates to people outside the inner workings of the club. I don't want him to every sell but that's up to him. It's something I agree with although at times I'm in a small group .
Danny didn't sell Rose, the club sold Rose. Danny picked him to start against Crawley remember? He also rarely picked Lita, once he realised he was spent. And Smith was injured in pre season, hence only being selected once fit. I know you have Danny down as the world's worst manager, but if you're going to try and defend Lee Johnson then it'd be better if you left Danny out of it, because their two records are poles apart mate.
Sorry whitey I don't agree on either. Rose didn't want to go and I explain that yesterday in a post why I think that and what a board member said to him. On Smith he was fit back end of september at the latest.
Barnsley-born Smith broke into the first-team last season - his first campaign as a professional - after having overcome a broken toe sustained in pre-season. Smith went on to make 18 appearances after finally making his debut against Preston on Boxing Day. "That was obviously very frustrating," reflected Smith. "It seemed I was set to start the season at full-back but the injury curtailed that. "I was just desperate to make my debut and having that taken away from me for five months was gutting - but it was an experience that made me stronger.
A creditable but defensively naïve and Hammill inspired draw at Wigan doesn't even begin to redress the balance of this disastrous head coach's reign. I hope we win on Saturday but in the event of a defeat and poor performance or typically bizarre selection/tactics leaving us rooted to the bottom of division three and I fully expect him to be gone by Monday, leaving whoever comes in some time to get organised for the January transfer window. It's no good 8LJ bemoaning individual defensive mistakes for shipping crap goals - they're his defenders and he's had nine months to sort it out. It would be the first thing any half-competent manager coming in would do - even mad Mel did it. He's also destroyed the confidence of the best young keeper in the league in the middle of last season. The better performing players recently are Hammill and some of Danny's recruits whereas Johnson has given us the dreadful Isgrove, Watkins, Mawson, Townsend, Smith and piece de resistance Wilkinson. He even celebrated the re-signing of the woeful Nyatanga and his most significant tactical ploy so far this season has been to commit instant hara-kiri by switching said Nyatanga to left-back on several occasions. Yes we should have kept some of the previous managers longer, a number of them were proven at this level and would have kept us competitive. Sticking with one who is not proven at any level other than for being a record-breaking loser is not the answer. I guess I should "ship-out" now but I won't. I will be there at Colchester on Saturday (and not just for the ticket stub!) to support the team, regardless of Johnson.
He was injured in July/ Augest against Hull. It took 6 weeks to heel and for him to play again. He was back late September for the u 21's a d sent out on loan to Bradford Park avenue where he didn't play.
That's a bizarre post. Danny played loads of kids last season. He handed out 14 professional debuts if I remember correctly. On plenty of occasions he picked kids over experienced players, Holgate & Bree over Brown, Abbott over Berry are two that spring to mind. Compare that to Johnson who got rid of Oates, has banished Digby to the reserves after one error, won't give Abbott a chance & continues to play Wabara over Bree.
Danny was involved with the club before Hemmsy started watching Barnsley so he's automatically a tw*t.
More young players played under DW than under LJ. Clarification; more of OUR young players that is. Take his treatment of Digby
He was out for five months. July thru November. He went to Park Ave to get match fit, wasn't selected so Danny brought him back and picked him ever since. Don't let the truth get in the way of an agenda though.
