Isn't how bad we are. That's a given. It is the sheer amount of people who are saying they are done and won't be renewing next season. In previous years there have always been people saying it, this season I have heard a LOT of people say it. And a lot of people who have season tickets who just aren't bothering to go to matches anymore. Take note Patrick, take note
The sad fact is the club is in a downward spiral of decline which although isn't terminal yet it will be if Cryne sticks to his word and let's the club spiral towards L2 with Johnson in charge. It's not the fair weather fans walking away now they are long gone it's previously highly committed supporters calling it a day and that should not be ignored by those in charge at Oakwell but it sadly is.
I've been out for a couple of beers today and have spoken with some season ticket holders who have said exactly the same. They've had enough of the tripe standard of entertainment, Johnson and Cryne sleepwalking into the abyss just to save face. Fans who've been going for forty years who will no longer invest in a season ticket but will pick and choose games.
Do you really expect us to believe that a LOT of people have decided they wont be buying a season ticket when the ST wont be for sale for at least another 6 months? And why would they tell you they're not buying one?
You're right. I was lying obviously. You do realise how football matches work right? People talk. You can overhear conversations too
I'll continue going this season because I've already paid for my season ticket. Not a chance I'll be paying for a new one AND travelling 50 miles every other week if we're in League 2.
I'm fairly sure he means that lots of people have decided they won't renew UNLESS things improve. Like me, for instance.
A lot of lads I know have already either stopped going or are on the verge of stopping, with most not having much else to do on a Saturday neither. Apathy has simply set in. Strangely enough it was the our relegation and subsequent misplaced belief we'd be competing at the top end of the league that renewed my interest in watching Barnsley, especially the away games. But should we drop into what is essentially a Southern League, even the away days aren't appealing. Worrying times. I actually don't think we'll go down, despite the evidence suggesting we will. I have zero faith in LJ, but believe that the team is still good enough to cobble together enough results to finish above at least four of the many many poor sides in this division. Perhaps this may only happen if Johnson is removed, but should we be in the bottom four come March, he surely will have been removed. But whether we stay up or stagger to a lower bottom half finish, I can only envisage crowds of 7,000 at best early next season.
