I believe, at the end of the 90s/early 2000s.It was the 2nd season in succession it had happened to both us & the Blunts. Wendys had the reverse with Home fixtures for first & last games for 2 successive seasons. If this happens again, then to me there is something wrong with the computer system that allocates the fixtures. In my opinion it can give an unfair advantage. (blagger)
why? you get two extra home games in the 44 in between..its alls relative..how about for a change we don't have to worry about last few games becasue we mid-table. The responsibility lies with Davey for that and not the computer.
Its wrong though irrespective of where you finish in the league. I would love to play first and last games at home. I only said it can make a difference, and that could well be true for some teams, not all of course. For it to happen 2 seasons running implies incompetence wthin the fixture compilers. Whoever/whatever they are.
We had an away game for the 1st and last games of last season. QPR and Plymouth. Or did you mean before then? I don't think it matters, still got same amount of home and aways in the season. It is nice to have a home game first though.
I meant successive seasons Do you really think it doesn't matter at all. As I've said earlier, it could make big difference to some teams. It makes a difference to fans. You would have thought that the technology would be able to sort this. Oh and another thing, if it can't be prevented, then why can't we have a go a being home for first and last fixtures?
RE: I meant successive seasons I really don't think it matters. I could understand the argument if we had 2, 3 or 4 away games at the start of the season, as it may mean you are more likely to be at the bottom and the psychological effect that has but 1 doesn't matter. If you manage to win that away game then it could work to your advantage. Either way it is just 1 of 46 games, with 3 points up for grabs.
