These people have decided in their wisdom, that all children go back to school on EASTER TUESDAY. How daft is that? The kids have a fortnight off starting 2nd April 2006, ending on Good Friday, with an additional day for Easter Monday - they then go back to school on the Easter Tuesday. The local primary school says it is causing untold problems but they have no control over holidays. There is just no common sense in this country anymore. What next - kids back at school on Boxing Day?
..and just how many factories and people have Easter week off? Nearly all of them. Chances are there will only be 30% of kids in attendance. Problem is, the authorities don't want you to pull children out of school during term time, then drop a bollock like this when everyone has holidays booked. Crazy.
RE: Easier solution ff and not have a valid viewpoint on any issues involving crime or kids? I'm confused as to who the fascists are.
30% my arse. So you are saying 70% of parents work in an environment where their holidays are fixed and are forced to take easter week. Me - i don't know anyone in that situation.
We made the same mistake last year... ... booked a holiday for Easter week thinking the kids would be on holiday and then found out they weren't ! Now as far as I can remember, (going back more years than I care !) Easter school holidays have always been the week before and the week after Easter Sunday. Why have they changed ? Could it be something to do with giving the teachers more time off ? A few weeks ago, my daughter had to stay at home one day so that the school could have a teacher/parent "consultation" day. The reason it was held during the day ? Because they get better attendance that way ! Of course they bloody do - all the parents have to take time off work to look after their kids because they can't go to school !!!! (banghead) And they want have three of these every year ! (doh) I gather we now have to make an appointment for something else soon - on a Saturday - better not be a match day (shithappens) Can anyone else explain this ? (Teachers need not reply !)
RE: We made the same mistake last year... Yep...my thoughts exactly. I also wondered if it was a way of moving away from the traditional Christian holidays as per the PC brigade. In my 49 years, Easter holidays have ALWAYS been as you describe. The head teacher says only 30% of kids will be attending that week due to booked holidays. Ridiculous.
RE: We made the same mistake last year... Having read many of your threads in the past, I could be tempted into thinking it is a deliberate ploy to get kids not attending school, thereby giving the Local Authority the opportunity to raise extra cash by issuing standard charges (banghead) At £100 per kid, per parent, it's a nice little earner (blaze)
Hitler and his lot I think Very soon one of the Hartog Set will have a vaild opinion. I wouldn't let TFP loose with the remote control to the telly nevermind an opinion.
I think you're right Roundsie Lots of people book holidays a year in advance when the holidays for the following year haven't yet been established. However, in the past, the two week Easter holiday has always fallen a week each side of Easter Sunday. Didn't know they'd changed it, but if they have it seems very daft to me. On the plus side, it may work for me and our lass. She's a teacher so we can only ever take holidays during school holidays when the holiday companies hike up the price. If Barnsley is out of sync with everywhere else we may get the chance of a cheap holiday for once.
Agreed. I don't like fashists. Justin was a ****** & John was a tw4t. How are your two children? They arrived from DFS pre Christmas didn't they?
RE: I think you're right Roundsie That is indeed true. If you went on the week 2nd April, you'll get the cheaper prices.
You've named them? I bet 'fine' is a two seater & 'dandy-o' is a chez longe. Do you buy ones that can handle 'heavy wear'. Fash the Bash. Oh aye.
It's 'Just Fine' if you don't mind A chez longe? Is that a ball over the top by stumpy? Bet this thread ends up being about loving.
