Tonight ,the lads had to dig so deep against Wednesday, think that local derby atmosphere as taken the edge of both teams, travelling so far also not helped ,hopefully we regroup and get a bit of cohesion back in our game at home on Saturday
Only my opinion, how many teams do you see get euphoric big win then lose next game,Liverpool beat Man U 7 nil then lost at Bournemouth, only my opinion if you think it’s tripe then we must just be overrated team because we should have beat Exeter
Not saying it’s tripe or anything, but I just think ( apart from a decent first half) it was a case of having a bad day at the office. Exeter we’re good, but we’re aided and abetted by some uncharacteristic poor defending. Think there’s too much being read into this defeat
We have no divine right to beat Exeter. Exeter won 5-0 on Saturday, so their euphoric win didn't seem to do anything but help them tonight. It was always going to be a matter of who played the best on the day. I'm not sure who's supposed to be overrating us. It might be you. It isn't me. In my opinion, using a victory against Wednesday last Tuesday as an excuse for losing a week later against Exeter is woefully chronically feeble.
Not really ,we should beat Exeter ,think Wednesday and the reds both losing ,showed what a tough game it was at Oakwell
Don't try and over-analyse it. It's football. They were better than we were. Nine to go, and look where we are in the table. Every single Reds fan would have snapped your hand off for this in August. Come to Oakwell on Saturday, get right behind 'em and let's hope to get back to winning ways!
The old saying goes "its how you react to defeat or adversity that makes you successful " We were beaten by a better team tonight (and at oakwell). We now need to get on our "A" game for Saturday. I have faith in our coach to get the team up for it. I'll take a scrappy one nil tbh...like I stated I would have took a draw tonight
Nah, can’t accept that a ‘tough game’ the week before is the reason we lost tonight. It wasn’t like we had key players unavailable.
Exeter had home advantage, fired up after their 5-0 win. Nothing to really play for (not realistically going to make the play offs), and they beat us at Oakwell and had the measure of us. Someone likened the win at Wycombe to Stendel's Walsall away victory. Tonight was Stendel's Burton Albion. We'll be reight
You could be right but I doubt it. It could be anything, a **** journey down, a bit of complacency after beating 3 sides in the promotion mix or maybe just a side that has our number. Look at Val against Swansea. Couldn’t do anything of any note in 4 games against them, just a bogey team. Exeter could well be that for us.
Don't agree - they were better than us, end of. We could have been at the peak of our mental powers but we just don't have the pace in the team that Exeter have.
Last night is an example of why we are not in the top 2 already. We have proven this season on many occasions we are as good if not better than most teams in this league on our day, the problem is as I said in a thread last week we have a tendency to throw performances like that in from time to time, recently we have have come away with a result, last night we didn’t. That’s football. Let’s not forget most on here we’re predicting top 10 at best so we are still way above predictions and still have it all to play for. Derby who need to start winning beat Ipswich Saturday and a win for us and it’s game on again.
The reason we’re not top two already is because of a slow start to the season, where we couldn’t beat the top teams and a spell where we never looked like scoring when Thomas first got injured and the 3-4-3 formation wasn’t working. For all the talk of top two, we’ve always been a decent number of points off even after a good run. Every team can lose, particularly away to teams in good form.
