Been thinking about this and im right hacked off by what is happening to football - the perfect example is whats happening at Man City. I was thinking about how a tiny part of that cash could save a club in trouble and then wondered how having a massive cash injection was fair compared to a club going into administration?? Am i right in saying that a club going into administration is penalised with a points deduction because clearing debts using admin is seen as gaining an unfair advantage? Or is it simply because the club have done something wrong?? Im a tad confused on that one, but if it is because of gaining an unfair advantage then how does this differ to having a huuge cash injection and basically fetching in whoever they want? I think what abramovic and this man city take over are doing is spoiling the game and whats worse is none of it is filtering down to either the fans in cheaper prices or the lower league clubs in windfalls. What if all premier league transfers were subject to a 10% tax which was then divided up between the other clubs outside the premier league?
Cash is injected into our club by a benefactor Not on the same scale as Man City, but it still is. Is some cash injection OK, but not too much?
We are as guilty as any club. We went into admin, didn't exit it 'properly'a nd then had it not been for Mr Cryne's generosity would have either never exited admin and/or gone bust.
would argue sky 'spoiled' football with its massive cash injection, there were very few money men willing to buy into the game before the mid 90s.
He really loved Blackburn tho It feels slightly different when its just some big money charlies buying a club as a status symbol or cash cow, without any meaningful connection to the club beforehand. Mind you, if there is a sheikh out there who has a few bill kicking about, I wouldn't have a huge problem with them giving it to us...I suppose there lies the prob. I don't reckon there are many Man City fans who are worrying about the state of football at the moment.
RE: He really loved Blackburn tho What happens when Roman/The Sheikh et al get bored and/or fed up of the fans moaning when they don't win the title/sack their favourite manager and bugger off ?
There's no way Chelsea could survive without Roman propping them up (as with us and PC) however, PC is a fan....

Compare the two balance sheets ours would indicate an amount of self sufficiency, albeit mostly due to Davey poxing 4 lucky wins in the FA Cup.
Was Abramovich a Chelsea fan before he bought it? I can't see the appeal of buying a club you have no connection with and bringing a load of "ringers" in to lift a few cups/titles. It'll all end in tears.

Yep, there are worries with having your team pumped full of cash. - as DH said, what happens when they get bored and tit off? The whole thing might well come crashing down. - the 'soul' of the club, whatever that is, is lost - although more fans is obviously a good thing, getting swamped with johnny come lately glory hunters must at least slightly grate - related to that, the original fans might feel they have to always make clear their 'proper fan' status (Im having a flashback to an old debate with an 'old friend' here!) - bought success never quite measures up to truly earned success. buying our way back to the prem (however unlikely) would never feel as sweet as the first, hard-earned time. Like I said though, how many here would protest too much if Vladimir Dodgyoildealsandwhoresvillich wanted to put 50 mill in, no questions asked?
Best move he made buying Chelsea He has a home in England, respected by the establishment, owned a Football Club with all the satisfaction of seeing them the top of the tree. All this and he still has 9.5 billion pound left, nice int it.
I Look At It This Way Everytime a Man Utd fan now fills his car with petrol he's lining Man Citys coffers allowing them to buy Ronaldo Torres Messi & Kaka (dancin) I just can't decide which name to have put on the back of my shirt (dunno)
