... the camaraderie and team spirit; from Ozzie and Kay's reassuring words to Rob Atkinson before and during the game, Devaney's clenched fist/beating of the Barnsley crest after scoring, Colgan and Togwell's high-five after rescuing us from a potentially hairy moment ... right down to the players walking around the edge of the pitch acknowledging and applauding the Barnsley support at the final whistle - all were superb and played their part in helping us to three vital points. I was worried that we might lose some of that togetherness and solidarity when Andy and Rick left, but credit to the lads, you have shown maturity and professionalism and if we can maintain that when the new manager takes over, I have no doubt that we will stay up. Well done!!!
50 points usually sees you safe in this Division Therefore we need to obtain another 24 points from the 63 available . Provided we show the same level of commitment as we did against Burnley , then that figure should be well within our capabilities .
Well, I was wondering why no-one was talking to me, but then I realised that I had forgotten to re-submit the message after editing it this morning (doh!) ... sorry to keep you all in suspense and thanks for your patience!
RE: 50 points usually sees you safe in this Division 50 points saw QPR 8 points clear of the relegation zone last season. To get that we need 1.14 points per game. Agree with JLWBigLil, if we keep grinding out results like that then no problem. According to those stats posted earlier today, AR, Gudjon and even Steve Parkin got over that ppg requirement during their reigns, looking definately possible. In simpler terms we need to win our home games, even if we lose some away games if we win most at home we'll have comfortably enough points.
I've been very harsh with my predictions but I've got us down for 23 more points. ...add in a touch of determination, a smattering of grit and a pinch of "new manager effect" and I reckon you could add in at least another 5 points. RE: my hopeful prediction.. 27 pts... I'll go with that. I'm also hoping for a club to do a 'free fall' due to over exerting themselves in the FA Cup!
