The lack of battle, direction, communication, passion and entertainment. I don’t blame the players, coaches or staff, but total disregard of what was needed from the start of the season for the hope a young player may make 20 million. I don’t care about profits I want entertainment and a good blend of young and experienced players giving everything for Barnsley football club. Hopefully next season we can have some common sense and create a squad we can all be proud of.
My biggest gripe is the stubbornness to not inject cash and by that I mean their own. With more investment we can attract a better calibre of manager (or head coach) and a better calibre of player with a bigger re sale value. Look at Blackpool for example. They got it 100% right with Critchley and he has assembled a squad with a model not too dissimilar to ours and he’s getting a tune out of those lads. Our outfit won’t appoint an English coach as they will have an opinion and too much of a say, due to their better knowledge of the English game Instead we are being led down a garden path and being made to believe in a system and model that clearly isn’t working and needs a complete re think. All Conway and co bang on about is clubs cheating ffp and constantly using that as an excuse as to why we can’t compete. Sorry but that is unfortunately the way clubs compete in that league these days and if you want to try and compete, you might want to come up with a better strategy because it’s only going to get worse
By some distance the worst season in the 46 I’ve seen; on and (more importantly) off the pitch. The current ownership seem intent of asset stripping the Club. Not just in terms of its financial, playing and Coaching assets, but in relation to its values, culture, ambition and what it brings and represents to the town of Barnsley. Please go, or at the very least signal loudly and publicly, your intent to do so.
