wants to buy Ronaldo, Fabregaes and Torres in January this is getting ridiculous, what satisfaction can supporters get out of winning if they know its going to happen every week, it just seems pointless teams even bothering getting promoted to the premiership, the gap now between the premiership and the football league is huge and getting bigger, it just all seems a bit pointless now

I said this the other day

The days of the smaller clubs are gone - apart from the odd FA cup tie of course - there is far too much money at the top now - they are on a different planet! However, buying all those players doesn't guarantee success - they still need to work as a team! Man Utd aren't a team full of superstars - the likes of Vidic etc all add to the team

but the great thing about supporting a team like ours is how up and down it is all the time, beating liverpool and chelsea last season thats what football is all about, not all this bloody 100.000.000 bid for players

    won't happen though

I agree with you but the Premier league clubs have too much power - anything like that and they will split from the league - then again let them - far better for the rest of us

I like how you consider Vidic some sort of bargain buy unsung amateur

33 caps signed for £7million. They are all highly paid superstars at man utd. At least there are still a few who have come through the ranks. But for how much longer will that last

i think man u are the better out of the top teams, they give some young talent chances, obviously they do make the odd 30 mill + signings but its the Chelsea's and now the Man Cities that are ruining football.

I agree the wages are obscene

Takes me 4 years to earn what Terry does in a week and I bet he doesn't put in the same hours! :'(

Was he a signing that made you sit up and take notice when he went to Utd

Not in the class as Torres and the other names being thrown around ad City. You need players like Vidic - the surprise team players to hold a team together. That was the point I was trying to make

Of course. But they broke through into the first team in a different era

thats where english football is going wrong. Which truly world class player has broken through at one of the big 4 in the last 5 years.

The last I can think of are maybe terry, Gerrard and Ashley Cole but it's 8 years or so since they did

I agree, but my point was that those sort of players just dont exist anymore

think back to Steve Bruce at United

    True

You can't throw 150,000 at a player and turn them into superstars - players like that don't come through any more

RE: I agree the wages are obscene

terry blows 150k on a bad night at the casino. picks a fight with the doorman, (nails the odd lap dancer) wastes another 150k on a decent lawyer and gets off scott free at crown court.

then gets made captain of good old england.

now that also makes me a tad mad at the so called cream of english football.
