since promotion in 2005/6 we have achieved 18 15 17 15 15 pts from the last 15 games of the season -rubbish -and nearly always relegation form over a season-(46 pts generally goes down!) this season we have done reasonably well over a 15 game period-after settling in we seem to be able to manage about 7 or 8 wins every 15 games-actual figures are 18 17 20 23 23 25 24 23 22 24 21 24 21 24 24 21 24 a similar figure for the next 15 will comfortably be our best season since promotion )
i get the feeling once we cant get in the playoffs he'l start playing the young uns and planning for next year so as that points total can be improved on the year after - but also make sure he tops last seasons total.
The next 15 games will define our season ,salivate fans who are contonemplating weather to buy a season ticket,so players are if we get in the play offs or not ,its a PLAYING FOR BUMS ON SEATS next season.and get people back watching Barnsley just dont think it will tail off this season
well after 31 games, having 42 points. That averages at 1.35 per game that means IF we keep that up, then we will end up with 62 points.
The best we have done in the last 5 seasons in the champs is 17th with 56 pts...also the points that saw teams relegated in 22nd place have been.. 42,47,46,52,42. The position avhieved on 62 points for the last 5 seasons were 12,11,10,13,14. IF we can keep the 1.35 ratio then we will get our best season since being promoted here. Those stats are fairly consistent I would say, a blip with that 52 pt tally, but otherwise fairly smooth. this season 50 points will be more than enough to stay in this league, but I think we will get more than that. Even if our ratio dropped to just 1 pt per game that would give us 57 and better than any other season .
I think Gordon Owen is probably right 57-60 points which lets be honest nearly all of us would have taken that at the end of August Anything over 60 points would be great - any less than 55 would be a very disappointing end to the season
