    Why Not Though?

Second tier professional football club, the captain is injured and needs an operation and he doesn't get one straight away so has to wait around injured when if done straight away he would miss even less time with the ten day break between games.

Maybe their wasn't a surgeon available straight away?

Maybe there was some additional work/medication for him to take before the operation.
Maybe there was some inflamation that pevented immediate surgery.

    To operate Stephen Foster

His brain sends messages through his central nervous system via a series of electrical implulses or something. that's how Stephen Foster and most humans operate. A doctor or trained medical professional will be able to explain it better than I can.
