is due to results of the teams above us also stumbling if we had appointed a new manager instead of an in house no experience interim we may have had a bounce and picked up the 3 wins in 4 against bottom dwellers and we would be right in the mix now with some momentum
At one point at the weekend, when we looked like we might hang on for the win at Wigan. I kept telling myself that the Play offs are still mathematical!. Especially with the teams above us failing to put a good run together. It does indeed make it all the more annoying with the form we're in now.
It's impressive how virtually every decision they've made when it comes to the football side of things, barring the odd one like signing DKD, has been the wrong one. Genuinely impressive ineptitude.
Let's be honest - the season's over, the issues are obvious, and it's better for us they're becoming undeniable because then there might actually be a change. My main concern at this point is that, the further we fall down the league the more apathetic the fans, and the less appealling we are to better players and managers.
Imagine when we were 5th in January had we brought in some players for what Mladen described at the end of January "promotion push"
And what about season ticket sales ehh Andy. What figures are we looking at now for next season, with this appalling first team show at the moment.
I was just thinking that earlier. Even a win tonight would’ve kept them within touching distance of 6th until Bolton got a rare win over Wigan in injury time. I genuinely think being 5th at the beginning of Jan didn’t help. The owners probably thought they had enough in the tank without spending much. Those 4 wins on the bounce really skewed everything in hindsight. Seems like a lifetime ago now anyway. What a s**t end to the season.
That would have helped but it can't be ignored that hourihane has done appallingly with the same squad Clarke had and yet has a much worse record against lower placed teams. Clarke had 6 points from his last 4 games Hourihane has just 2
I've said it before but I genuinely don't understand why Hourihane wanted the gig. He must have an ego and a well of self belief the size of a house if he thought he was going to get a tune out of this lot and he was the man to succeed in the face of all the obvious obstacles. In the event, he is doing possibly irreparable damage at the moment to his chances of making it as a manager.
To succeed, a manager needs to have people underneath him with the same aptitude for effort, beliefs and ability. None of them come close. But those underneath him may be questioning if he's all that because he gave us fans a mere couple of appearances, and had no intention of playing. Something isn't adding up
Chortle!! Seriously though mate, as I just posted in another thread. Just 2 wins would have kept us in with a sniff. You’re correct though. Not with these lot. Theyre poo.
If there was such a thing as being 'handed' a Play off place, we have been handed the chance with the other teams inconsistent form. But this appalling squad of ours should be ashamed of themselves, because they just aren't bothered.
Yeah exactly Fitz lad. And to be honest I think this sort of vindicates both Daz Clarke and Neil Collins, a bit!.
Well Collins was soon back in work, and Clarkes stock definitely won’t be harmed by what’s happening since he left, so I’m sure he’ll soon get another gig.
