[/B This footballer has had more abuse thrown at him more than most players, but who was the star performer of our greedy lot of footballers ...Craig. He has been called all through his career as a loud mouth. On the other hand he was one of GB's best footballers in the Olympics. He now is wanting to join Cardiff City at a drop in wages so that he can stay with his family and at the same time help Cardiff City to promotion. He also supports a football academy in Sierra Leone where his own money is helping to give 2000 poor kids a better life through football. Maybe a loudmouth but he never mentions this. I do hope that the next time you see Craig Bellamy, you give him a mighty cheer, I am having to stop here as I am having difficulty in seeing the keys. (Partly pinched from Brian Reade's column in todays Daily Mirror)
said same in a thread a couple a days ago that he was gb's player of tournament by a country mile. the reason he gets abuse is because he is a good and effective player. if the other bits true about his involvment in charities etc then extra respect to him from me. anyway going to set off to rochdale now so yooouuu rrrrrrreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeddddddddddsssssss
Yes a drop in wages to a mere £30,000 a week, I don't see how anybody can see this as a point worthy of praise. And yes he does give a lot to charity and this does deserve credit but so do a lot of other people who don't have millions in the bank. It may not be on the same scale but I and thousands, possibly millions more like me give time and money to charity every week.
Agreed top class player and great attitude - Unlike most footballer PR quotes I believe him when he said There is more to life than football .... "I missed my family at the end of last season. A lot went on off the field that made a huge effect on my life. I wanted to be home and wake up every day with my kids. "There is more to life than football and it's important to me to be around my wife and kids and play for Cardiff City. I am honoured that the club owners and Malky wanted me here."
