As an Ipswich supporter you can imagine the dissapointmet of the result on saturday! which was tipped off when our minibus broke down in the carpark on way home :( before the game we went to the Outpost public house on Sheffield road where we enjoyed good company and quite a few beers!! after the bus broke down we found our way back to the Outpost where we were welcomed not only by the landlady but a few Barnsley supporters,I am writing on here today to thank everyone in the pub especially the landlady and David who supplied us all with pizza we were made very welcome!!
Thank You Barnsley !!!!
P.S we eventually got home at 3am :( and very worse for ware

There seems to be a special bond between Barnsley and Ipswich fans

Since Wembley 2000 , long may it continue .

Nice one.

I remember coming away from a disappointing result a few years ago thinking what a jolly friendly lot the Ipswich fans were.

Glad you had a good day.

I once went to Ipswich on a coach wich broke down

about 4 years ago Morecambe played em in the 3rd round of th cup, left home at 6am, set off from morecambe at 7am and the bloody bus stopped at every service station on the way down, as we left the last service station ours was the last of the 4 coaches and after 4 or 4 miles we broke down, missed the first goal and got inot the ground to see the mcbe captain sent off, lost 3-0 and the coaches were held back for over an hour after the game, just got onto the m6 and the b***** broke down again, got home about 2-30 am, not the best day out,
so you have my full sympathy

The friendly final

can't remember where I read that, might have been on here but thats just how the wembley 2000 final should be described. And it is nice to see that kind of behaviour. I'm all for a bit of banter but it's only a game after all and it's sad to see injuries and things in fights over football.

I think there are genuine supporters of football at both clubs and it is nice to see that when it happens will always be happy to come to Bransley

Sending us Richard Naylor to come and score no goals in 13 games nearly broke the bond though :pff :pff :pff

When Johnson went off injured in the play off final i thought we had you then. As for Naylor he is one of our worst loan signings in the history of our glorious club. He's in good company with people like Deon Burton and John Walters.

Did you go to the Morecambe game at Morecambe about

2 years before the match aat ipswich?,
apparently some of the Ipswich fans moaned at the price of the tickets so a good natured local pie firm gave all the fans a free pie, we never got one mind

I did not got to that match but i remember it well i can remember all the fuss about the cost of the tickets i think you doubled what you normally charged for that game, ( i dont blame you ) its not often you play a big team like that in the cup !

Yes, thats right

cant remember who Barnsley were playing that day but I went to the Morecambe game, think it cost £20, and as you said the club made a bit of money, at that time you always beat my teams, it was the season after we lost at Wembley, then of course Morecambe lost at Ipswich,
the best 2 hours entertainment ive seen at Portman though was neil Diamond last May
