WOW... I was moved to say the least. This is why I have no worries paying a TV licence when the BBC come out with stuff like this... totally worth it.. I am looking forward to seeing the whole thing this week...but know right now I will be in weeping mess. Quality stuff, thankyou Aunty.

Good to see a new drama on at prime time that isn't a soap.

Hope they don't do the usual war ******** though.

Glad to see they portrayed it as it was, young men could not wait to sign up and fight each other, they thought it would all be a bit of a laugh and medals all round.

Imagine a day when men on both sides say to politicians "**** off, do the fighting yourselves". Then we'd soon see more talking and less posturing.

I don't believe they will, there was an interview with the writer on BBC Breakfast this morning and he said he wanted to avoid the usual stuff. Another thing he said that they deliberately didn't want to use accents or subtitles as they didn't want you to straight away identify the German lad and think "ash, so thats the bad guy", it's not about bad or good but just seeing it through their eyes.

Talking about being in floods of tears though - The People Remember on BBC1 every morning, couple of stories got me this morning, the lass reading the final letter from her granddad to her grandma, and the old woman who had been evacuated in the war.
