Anyone done it? I’m starting tomorrow from Edale, just doing a week to Horton-in-Ribblesdale. Too chicken to do the whole thing in one go, going to do it in 3 stages I think. Bricking it now, ngl.
I completed the Pennine Way with 4 friends 28 years ago. Started out from Edale on 19 July and walked into Kirk Yetholm on Tuesday 5 August. Thoroughly enjoyed the walk and it ranks very high in my list of top outdoor adventures. The last day of your walk will presumably be from Malham to Horton, which imho, is one of the best days of the whole journey, with Malham Cove, Watlows Valley, Malham Tarn, Fountains Fell and Pen y Ghent the highlights. Looks like you may have a mixed bag of weather with some low cloud, rain and periods of dry sunny and warm days. Take it as it comes ...... Enjoy!!
On the same theme, does anyone know if you can get a phone signal at Crowden; I would need to call for a lift home ( not sure what time I would get there for a pre arranged lift).
Done it 3 times. 1981: Edale to Kirk Yetholm, honeymoon (yes, honest!) for me, my wife of 1 day, and dog Bandit. Sadly my wife twisted her knee on day 1 and couldn't continue. I carried on by myself, because (her words) "we promised Bandit we'd do it". Mainly wild camping but the odd B and B. 1982: Edale to Kirk Yetholm. This time my wife made it all the way. Once again mainly wild camping. 2013: Kirk Yetholm to Edale. On my own, no wife, no dog. First leg to Dufton in May, then second leg to Edale in July. Brilliant experience, lifetime memories! Good luck.
Thank you! Yeah the last day looks amazing, but tough. People say the first part isn’t the best but I don’t mind the moors. So let’s see, I’ve got mi coyt fo’ rain.
I'd love to do this kind of thing, including the Yorkshire 3 peaks and Eyam/Grindleford circular. I just haven't the time!
Me too mate, It must be a great feeling of achievement and massive respect to those that make it happen.
