...for them anyway, they hate us for what happened in the last few minutes at Huddersfield last season. Like they wouldn't have done the same? It was just as risky a tactic as going for a winner, they could have equalised.
Peterborough away is a cracking away game. You're right though, some of them have got an issue with what we and Luke (a local lad) did.
They're just looking for excuses. We got more points than them that season. Simple as that. Every one would have done exactly the same as what Steele did. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Held the ball for 90 seconds (NINETY) and we were not under the kosh we could have easily have been next team to score. Sore losers
Surely, if the last few minutes of any game relegated them last season it was theirs. Had they not let two goals in they'd have stayed up. Our game hit a standstill, but they were still playing after our game finished. Had they equalised we'd have gone down. We took a big risk. And anyway, Steele took a goal kick and wellied it up the pitch. It was the Huddersfield players who hoofed the ball back and told him to keep it, so surely Peterborough should be angry with Huddersfield for not making us play it out? If we had played it out we could have wasted time with injuries, standing on the ball at the corner flag, etc, had we wanted. And if we did Seriously, if Peterborough want to blame a relegation on Luke Steele holding the ball for 90 seconds, rather than them not being good enough to get enough points over the course of the season.
In the last few minutes of every game in every league at every level anywhere in the world the 'keeper will keep control of the ball for as long as possible in order to wind down the clock, if his team are winning, or drawing if that's all his team require. It happens every week in every game. To prevent this, a striker from opposition closes the keeper down forcing him to pick up the ball and then, due to the 10 second law, kick it up field. At Huddersfield, this didn't happen. No Huddersfield player bothered to pressure Luke Steele, so Luke just kept the ball. The same would happen in every other game if no one bothered to confront the 'keeper. It appears that Peterborough fans are stupid if they haven't yet worked that out and continue to blame us.
Precisely my thoughts Jay, if Peterborough want to blame anyone but themselves for relegation, it should be Huddersfield. They could have gone and tried to get the ball off Steele if they wanted to.
